I would like to ask you to join in on praying for Elevate 09. Elevate is an intense weekend long experience for our students at FBC Marion. The weekend involves four worship sessions at our church led by speaker Doug Compton and the Elliot Andrews Band, intense small group Bible Study time led by college students, lots of food, mission projects Saturday afternoon, and also a crazy recreation time Saturday afternoon. The students stay at host homes Friday and Saturday night. Our theme for the weekend is Totally Consumed: The Authentic Worshiper.

Imagine thousands of college and high school students on a journey to engage God's Son as supreme. Imagine a great one day gathering of these students in the middle of a field in Kansas to focus on Christ alone and His Kingdom purposes. From dawn to dusk, thousands will worship the King of Kings, cry out to him in prayer and worship, and spend moments of silence before our great Creator and Redeemer. Nothing will be sold, no agendas will be promoted, nobody will be made more famous, no musicians will be mentioned or even seen...the sole focus will be on the glory and reign of Christ Jesus.

In conjunction with Elevate 08, we will host a parent seminar on Saturday, April 5, called The Moral Compass. The seminar is from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in the sanctuary at FBC and will be led by our Elevate Speaker, Paul Abner. Paul leads a ministry called "Worth the Wait," and he has travelled around the country for 12+ years talking to parents and teenagers about sexual purity. There is no charge for the seminar, but we will collect a suggested donation of $5 to $10 per family to cover the cost of the seminar materials.
