Children's Choir Prepares "Christmas Starr"
Each Wednesday evening at 5:30, nearly 100 children in grades 1-5 and their dedicated leaders are hard at work preparing the musical Christmas Starr. The musical is the story of Chrissy, a fun-loving little star who is just coming into an understanding of who she is and of what the birth of Jesus means. There's been a buzz in Heaven for weeks and now the announcement will come and plans will be underway for the Biggest Event Ever--Jesus' birth! You can share the fun and the joy as we watch Chrissy go from “star” to worshiper on Wednesday, December 16, at 6:30 p.m.
2009 Christmas Production Underway
Rehearsals and preparations are underway for our 2009 Christmas production, Christmas Delayed. This show tells the story of a group of travelers and airport employees stranded in an airport during a Christmas Eve snowstorm. Together they celebrate Christmas, struggle with some real-life issues, and learn about how to wait patiently when God allows "delays" to disrupt our life's plan.
Wonderful Mystery
Don't miss our Children's Choirs for grades 1-5 in their final presentation of this school year, Wonderful Mystery, on Wednesday night, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This celebration of the wonderful mysteries of God features music, drama, choreography, and more! Enjoy a brief reception in the Fellowship Hall after the presentation to congratulate these children and thank the many dedicated volunteer leaders who work with them each week.
Old Songs and New
Throughout church history, Christians have debated whether God is most appropriately worshipped and faith most aptly expressed with old songs or new. In fact, many classic hymns such as When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and How Great Thou Art once created controversy because they were deemed "too radical" for Sunday morning worship.
Bravo!
Congratulations to the Celebration Choir and Orchestra on their leadership of our You Changed My Name worship event. I'd like to thank all the singers, instrumentalists and technical volunteers who sacrificed their time and abilities to make this event a reality.
